Men Mentoring Youth

Men are key to growing a more nonviolent future and they are answering the call. Men are forming groups to transform the ways young men treat young women. They are teaching, coaching and mentoring in community groups. These organizations offer a sampling of how men are initiating change.


A Call to Men

A Call to Men works to promote a healthy and respectful manhood that shifts attitudes and behaviors that devalue women, girls and other marginalized groups. The organization works to create a world where all men and boys are loving and respectful and all women and girls are valued and safe.

Athletes as Leaders

Athletes As Leaders™ is a program for high school athletes on girls’ sports teams. The program aims to empower female-identified youth to take an active role in promoting healthy relationships and ending sexual violence.

Breakthrough/Be That Guy

Breakthrough U.S. works to change the attitudes and assumptions around gender that lead to violence and discrimination. They use multimedia and pop culture to challenge norms. And train new generations of leaders to ignite change in their own communities, institutions, and the world around them.

Coaching Boys Into Men

Coaching Boys Into Men is an evidence-based prevention program that trains and motivates high school coaches to teach their young male athletes healthy relationship skills and that violence never equals strength. It is a registered trademark of Futures Without Violence.

Engaging Men & Youth Program

The Engaging Men Grant Program is part of the Office on Violence Against Women, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. It funds projects that develop or enhance new or existing efforts to engage men in preventing violence against women and developing mutually respectful, nonviolent relationships.

Equimundo

Equimundo works to achieve gender equality and social justice by transforming intergenerational patterns of harm and promoting patterns of care, empathy and accountability among men and boys throughout their lives.

Men Can Stop Rape

Men Can Stop Rape’s mission is to mobilize men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men's violence against women. The organization’s vision is to institutionalize primary prevention of men’s violence against women through sustained initiatives that generate positive, measurable outcomes in populations throughout the world.

Men of Quality

This is a joint effort by Toronto Maple Leafs and White Ribbon to end violence against women. Men and boys attend workshops, conferences and consultations. They understand their role in violence prevention and work to change the norm.

Merge for Equality

The Merge for Equality mission is to engage people and communities in transforming masculinity to advance gender equality. Merge approach — Natural State — Current Reality — Catalyzing Strategy —Desired Future.

MVP (Mentors in Violence prevention) Strategies

Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) conducts training for diverse groups of college and high school students, professionals and community leaders. Training includes the bystander program, sexual harassment and bullying prevention programs.

National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse

The goals of NRFC are to provide, facilitate and disseminate research and innovative strategies to strengthen fathers and families.

White Ribbon

This organization works to create an equitable, safe world. Through research and reports they work for changes in policy, practice and culture to address the root cause of gender-based violence. Programs include LaceUpSpeakOut and an online-based, social media campaign to promote healthy relationships between father and son.

WR Draw the Line

Draw the Line is an interactive campaign to begin a dialogue about sexual violence. It offers workshops and webinars for professionals, e-learning module for elementary and secondary students and parents.
