Advertising and other media objectify women and girls. Girls learn that they are valued for their sex appeal. The consequences for this cultural standard are devastating to women and society. The following organizations provide insight, documentation of the adverse impact on individuals and society, and solutions for reclaiming dignity and power for women.


ANAD

Body image includes both how you feel about your appearance and what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror. Often, this mental image can be quite different than reality. ANAD is a nonprofit that offers help with body image and other issues.

About Face

About-Face frees girls from the confines of a toxic culture so they can fulfill their potential. From unrealistic beauty ideals to narrow stereotypes, girls receive dangerous and limiting messages from social media, TV, movies, and real-life events every day. Learning how to deconstruct those messages and fight back to create change helps girls see and achieve their full potential.
